ENTROPIC ORGANIZATIONAL CLIMATE, ORGANIZATIONAL INDIFFERENCE AND JOB SATISFACTION: CONCEPTS AND MEASUREMENT TOOLS

Literature is quite limited in terms of including antecedents or consequences of the concept of entropy in business life. In this study, the concepts of organizational indifference and job satisfaction were predicted as a result of entropic organizational climate, and scale development and scale adaptation processes were used to measure related concepts. In this context, the study aims to determine relationship between entropic organizational climate with organizational indifference and job satisfaction. The entropic organizational climate scale consists of two dimensions named relational entropy and processual entropy. The research was carried out on 306 personnel working in branches of a private bank around the Eastern Mediterranean region in Turkey. Data were collected from participants through convenience sampling method and online survey technique. According to results of the regression analysis, it was observed that processual entropy contributed positively to predicting organizational indifference. Besides, it was found that both relational entropy and processual entropy contributed negatively to predicting job satisfaction. As an output, two valid and reliable short scales have emerged to measure organizational indifference and job satisfaction. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed and directions for further research are presented.
